I am currently a senior and I will be graduating in the spring of 2010. I enjoy going to Alliant for a many reasons, but here is just a few. Having classes at night and for eight weeks at a time gives me more time to study and I am also able to maintain a job. Also, the classes are very small which allows the professors to surround the students with a concentrated learning environment. One last thing that I enjoy is the diversity of the student population. The foreign students bring a lot of business knowledge and experience from their home country to the classroom.
ReplyDeleteI am an international student from Japan. I currently major in International Business Administration at Alliant International University San Diego. I think that the main advantage of getting degrees at AIU San Diego is small class sizes. Since each class consists of about 5-15 people, you can get to know the faculties and the students from all over the world. The faculties in my courses were all either currently working in, or have worked, in a related field which added real world experience to the classroom.
ReplyDeleteIt's my second year at Alliant taking Bus Admin with emphasis in Accounting.I have three more semesters to get my bachelors degree.
ReplyDeleteI made a list of what I like about Alliant:
-there's a sense of community and diversity.
-the faculty as well as the staff are very helpful.
- i love being in the library. It's very quiet.
- classes are small. I only had one class that has 20 students
- the school offers online and in campus classes. This set up is convenient for working students.
I'm thinking of pursuing on getting an MBA. I would like to get opinions from fellow AIU students on how'd they like the MBA program(s) here at AIU.
The search for the right college is vital. I had luck with finding the right college. I was attending a community college and that is where I heard and learned of Alliant International University. This University is located in Southern California. I choose this college because I work full time and I needed a school that wouldn't interfere with my work schedule. Alliant offers online classes and evening onsite classes. I also chose this school because they have a school of business division. I had heard great things about the Marshall Goldsmith School of Managment as well from a previous alumni. I also like that the sessions at Alliant are 8 weeks long versus 1 month like all the other colleges that I had looked into. The class size is small so that is another big plus. I also liked the fact that this school has a contract with the community college that I attended because they offer classes at the community college as well. I am a business major at Alliant, my standing right now is a Senior. I will finish in Spring of 2010. I am so glad I choose this school, I started in Fall of 2008. I hope to go for my Masters at Alliant as well. I would reccomend that you look into this school. Please visit their website:

I am an international student from Germany. I currently major in International Business Administration at Alliant International University San Diego.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy studying at Alliant. The international aspect of this school is shown everywhere. You have small classes with 15 to 20 students and nearly 80 percent are from foreign countries. My classes are compared with Germany much more interesting and I enjoy the exchange with the professors, the discussions with my classmates, and the activities on campus.
If you are interested in detailed information, just have a look on www.alliant.edu.
After going to a community college and juggling full-time school with full-time work i decided to go to a university that is willing to work with my schedule and give me the level of education that i need in order to succeed in the modern workforce. So I chose Alliant International University. Most of the teachers have their doctorate in their respective fields and are all great educators. This is my first semester here and i love it.
ReplyDeleteI am quite satisfied with the class length, it allows me focus and get the class out of the way instead of dragging it on for 16 weeks. Also, the class availability is great and the fact that I will graduate without any set backs of class cuts and budget shortages.
ReplyDeleteI don’t think the school should use their business students to do the school marketing research. my entire class was about what MGSM should do... to improve... hire somebody to do it for the school, show the students how a good a business should be done... let us study instead of working for you with no response, at least if we knew that you are taking our suggestions... but not really...
ReplyDeleteIn the last project of my Social Media Marketing (SU 10 MKT6999-50), the professors request us to implement a social media marketing plan which is including posting videos en YouTube, creat and following blogs and other applications. Additionally they are asking us a report where we need to analyze the results of our strategy (how many viewers do we get, the comments, etc)
ReplyDeleteI think that the the project is irrational, even with the appropriate technical recourses. How many videos are you expecting are going to be posting? Only in our class would be more than 12.
How are you thinking you can filter the contents? In the way that you have designed the project #3 you don’t have any guaranty that the message that we could transmit correspond with the Institutional position of the MGSM; you don't have any quality control.
And the most important thing, what about our intellectual rights? You are pretending to use our thoughts and works without anything in exchange. In fact we are paying tuition for this class and additional you want we design an strategic campaign.
The idea of do an "academic exercise"and make a video, or desing a blog, it is not that bad. But publicate it and produce benefit for the university for free is the part that I feel is going beyond the course objective.
I'm sure that all of us have the capacity to desing an Strategic Marketing plan at this point, but our time and knowlege also have a value.
I would like also to express my concern in a more formal context. Because it's important, in my opinion, that in this type of situations we keep a register in order to the University can activate its quality controls and provide the students (costumers) a better education level that correspond to the MONEY that we are investing.
I only have a year in Alliant and I don't feel that any of my opinions, suggestions or concerns have produced any significative change. In fact sadly I can see that the same mistakes are repeting over and over but in different scenarios.
One of the concept that we have been learning in the Marketing Strategy's courses is the "Viral Marketing", this powerful theory suggest that the "mouth to mouth" publicity is one of the most effective strategy to promote a company or/and institution. But I would like to remember you that also can destroy the credibility of the companies or/and institutions if the present costumers experience is negative.
I am finishing my MBA here at MGSM and I have loved almost every minute of it. I am taking the same class the last two students posted on, and I have learned so much and I am glad I was forced into seriously looking at all the aspects of social media marketing. Summer classes are always shorter and tougher. That's always the way it is.
ReplyDeleteAs adults and individuals, we all see things differently based on our backgrounds, culture and work experience. Sometimes I get annoyed at what I have been asked to do, but as students we have a great opportunity to let the world know about the unique benefits at MGSM. Where else can you call Marshall Goldsmith directly and meet with him? This also applies to many other Thought Leaders of global reputation.
As a mature woman returning to school after 25+ years, I am very grateful for the great professors and very small classes. I have made friends with people from all over the world and have built a great network. I believe I have gotten a great education at MGSM and will continue on here with my Ph.D. in Leadership.
I think the vision that Dean Goodrich, Marshall Goldsmith and President Cox have for MGSM and Alliant is one that takes time to build. We all think our ideas are the best, but sometimes we don't know the whole picture (which is annoying). Also, instituions the size of Alliant take time to implement change, sometimes because of budget, but also "the red tape" that goes with any entity, and especially a non-profit. Please hang in and don't rush to denigrate your school based on your displeasure with one class.
I'm not denigrating the school in base of one class. I have finished my program and I have many complains since I arrive here last year.
ReplyDeleteI'm not satisfied with the level of education that I have received in my specific program. My concentration in theory is on IT and I'm completly disappointed.
I have been trying to express my thought in many ways, through different via. I have been expressing my suggestions how the University could offer a better services to me, but with any possitive result. I’ve been learned that is always better be part of the solution rather than the problem.
I’m 29 year old; I’m coming from a family that gives huge value to the education. The expectative that I had when I arrive Alliant was really high and I feel that my program haven’t cover even a 20% of them.
I’m Electronic Engineer, and I got my degree in an excellent University in my country, Simon Bolivar University. Our lemma is “Seeking the Excellency”. I’m putting 100% in every activity, homework, work that I have been doing during this year. I’ve been active in the events and the organizations in Alliant and I the only thing that I have received in exchange is problems…
I selected Alliant for many reason: rolling admission, I’m not manager my English as well as I would like, the program is design to be finish in a year and the most important one was that I want to focus my career in something between business and technology and the IT concentration’s curriculum in theory was offering it, according to me. But my sister and my best friend were asking me if I recommended MGSM to them and I said “NO”.
The International Student Service is terrible, the administration is not efficient, and I didn’t feel satisfied with my concentration courses.
My best memories here are the Latino Achievement’s attention. Guadalupe Corona have been hearing us, she has been our real guide. Allen Thompson, he has been trying to support and I really appreciate it. And some great professor such as Mike Vescuso, Henry Peterser, Jay Sullivan, Rene Naert Jon Loebbaka
